What I notice is NO MATTER WHAT, when I am trying to feel better, lose weight, or support my hormones, there is no one thing I can pinpoint it down to and there is certainty no quick fix! As much as we are all part of this convenience high paced lifestyle, when it comes to being healthier, living more optimally and overall feeling better, we must take our time, be patient (yes I said it!) and allow our bodies to process the goodness we are putting into it to take its time on the healing journey. And really if it was that quick, would you want to do it anyways? You would just be looking for the next best thing and the next, and the cycle goes on.
So what do I mean by all this? I am talking about SYNERGY! Synergy means “the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects”. Simply put, the more things that work together in unison can have an exponential effect on the outcome. For example, if I work out I will start to see some results in feeling healthier, but if I incorporate a healthy diet into the equation and then proper sleep and meditation, my results have increased tremendously.
Here are some ways to increase health and improve lifestyle (the more you do, the greater the impact). Remember the more the merrier, but you don’t have to add these all at once. Pick one for the week and then continue to add each week.
- Eat more plants! Eat at least 10 different varieties a day
- Eat at least 2 fruit and 3 servings of vegetables per day – the more variety the better
- Incorporate herbs and spices into every meal
- Walk at leas 40 minutes per day
- Deep breathing/meditative exercises as little as 5 min per day
- Yoga movement
- Strength and resistance training (can use your own bodyweight)
- Sleep 7-9 hours per day (each person has a different ideal sleep pattern)
- Wake up with the sun/daylight
- Go outside for at least 10 minutes each morning (I live in Miami so maybe easier for me 🙂 )
- Think positive thoughts
- Be mindful during mealtime
- Shut off computers/pads/phones 1-2 hours before bedtime
- Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
- Add good fats and Omega 3 containing foods into your diet
- Go outside in nature and get some fresh air!
- Spend time with people and CONNECT
